This is a great opportunity for Vietnamese students to connect and challenge themselves with their peers who share the same passion.
Speaking at the final night, Huynh Tan Dat, member of the Central Secretariat of the Vietnamese Student Association, and President of the Vietnamese Student Association in Australia, representing all Vietnamese students in the Land of Kangaroos, shared that the final night is not only the destination of a contest, but also a testament to the spirit of daring to dream big, innovating and facing challenges of the young generation of Vietnam.
The creative and innovative efforts of Vietnamese students studying in Australia have contributed a small part to the vision of comprehensive strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Australia to promote bilateral cooperation in many areas such as innovation and education, opening up opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
During the 2-month contest, the teams went through the first round with the task of presenting a business plan, solving the problems that businesses are facing, proposing innovative solutions and assessing the potential sustainable impact on businesses and society based on eight areas of education, skills and training; resources and energy; agriculture, forestry and fisheries; manufacturing; tourism; science, technology and innovation; digital economy; and services.
The second round created an opportunity for the teams to connect with the competition’s advisors to complete their startup plans, and compete in a business project presentation in the “Shark Tank” format to seek opportunities to enter the final round. The “Shark Tank Pitch” event was successfully organized with the participation of 10 teams and more than 50 audience members who are students from all over New South Wales.
The final night of the “UAVS Start Up Challenge” competition took place successfully, attracting five excellent teams and more than 150 participants from all over New South Wales state. The teams competed in three rounds of business plan presentation, debate and Q&A with the judges.

The Champion award was presented to the EnerTrade team with a startup project to collect used batteries using devices integrated with AI technology.
Established on March 25, 2018, with the support of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney and recognized by the New South Wales government as a non-profit student organization, UAVS is proud to be a student organization actively organizing useful academic events for the international student community. The main activities of the association are a series of career development-oriented events such as UAVS Startup Challenge - Step Up Your Game, Journey to the Big4, The Age of Clicking and UAVS Business Case Challenge.
