The Vietnamese Embassy in Greece on June 29 held a ceremony to open Vietnam’s Honorary Consular Office in Pireaus.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Le Hong Truong presented the Honorary Consular Card, flag, sign and national emblem to the Office. The Ambassador congratulated Mr. Gavriil Petridis on officially becoming the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Piraeus from May 17.
Ambassador Truong also expressed his confidence that with his new role, Mr. Petridis will support the Embassy in understanding, guiding and supporting the Vietnamese community in the consular area to obey the law and respect customs of Greece, strengthening friendly relations with the local people, and helping Vietnamese crewmen working on foreign ships anchored in Greece’s seaports.
Mr. Truong hoped that Greece will continue to create favorable conditions for further promoting relations between the two countries in the maritime field, including shipbuilding, ship repair and freight services between Greece - Vietnam and Vietnam-EU via Piraeus seaport, especially after the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) took effect in August 2020.
Mr. Petridis appreciated the Vietnamese Embassy’s support in the past time, and shared that he was honored to be appointed as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in the southern region of Attica state, Piraeus city and neighboring islands.
The Honorary Consul also commits to making his efforts in implementing the functions and tasks, contributing to promoting cooperation relations between Vietnam and Greece not only in the maritime field but also in other fields such as culture, tourism promotion, and import and export of famous products of the two countries.
One of the focuses of Mr. Petridis in the coming time is to promote the establishment of Vietnam House to promote Vietnamese products and cuisine at Piraeus port./.
