Cultural traditions preserved and promoted by Dam Ha

In recent years, the movement entitled “People unite to develop cultural life” has been actively deployed by Dam Ha District, drawing positive response of local people. Along with this, guidelines of the Party and policies of the State towards the ethnic communities, the preservation and promotion of their cultural uniqueness have been well implemented.
Dam Ha is home to nine ethnic minority groups, accounting for 30.1% of local population. Most of them live in mountainous areas. Thanks to specific preferential policies, their material and spiritual life has been enhanced gradually. Cultural, medical and educational facilities have been heavily invested as well.
Implementing Program No.135, the district disbursed tens of billion VND for rural facilities, traffic system, irrigational works and supporting production.
The district is continuously paying attention to the spiritual life of ethnic minority groups. Its ethnic culture house, was completed, has become a rendezvous for ethnic groups to meet and exchange culture. Their distinctive sports and cultural activities such as whirligig spinning, crossbow shooting, wrestling, traditional costumes of Dao Thanh Y, Thanh Phan; San Co singing and Then singing…have been recovered and promoted.
The Ethic Groups’ Culture-Sports Festival, held annually to recall cultural distinctions, has become more and more popular. Dam Ha Communal House and Trang Y Communal House festivals were recovered; intangible cultural values are being collected and compiled. The district also educates young generations about cultural traditions; opened ethnic language classes and popularized ethnic songs in the community./.
