Sharing pain across generations

On the 52nd anniversary of the Agent Orange calamity in Vietnam, on August 7, the Quang Ninh provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange organized the exchange on sharing pain across generations.

During the exchange, representatives from families who have more than one AO victim, or three generations of AO victims, shared their pain and their efforts to overcome the difficulties in lives, integrating into society.

Quang Ninh province has some 4,000 AO victims’ families, including 300 families having three generations infected with the toxic chemicals.

The exchange held brought about sympathy and deep admiration with the victims who struggle to overcome their consequences with their own will and determination.

During the exchange, the provincial Fatherland Front allocated VND175 million to assist 7 victims’ families who live near the poverty line to build houses. In addition, 18 wheelchairs worth VND45 million were given to the victims by the Quang Ninh provincial lottery limited company and Ms Pham Thi Tuan from Ha Long city. Meanwhile, the Quang Ninh safe water limited company and Cam Pha beer – alcohol - beverage and construction joint-stock company awarded VND20 million supporting 40 AO victims who are undergoing rehabilitation treatment.

Many agencies, organizations and enterprises also gave them presents, money and medical insurance cards during the exchange, with a total capital of VND300 million./.
