Northern province sets up waterway traffic inspection team

The team involves the provincial Committee on Traffic Safety, the provincial Department of Transport, the provincial Police and relevant agencies.

The provincial People’s Committee has asked the provincial Department of Transport to apply the regulations on waterway passenger transport, asking all waterway vehicles to ensure safety before setting out. Meanwhile, ports and water stations must operate under the supervision of the domestic waterway port authorities and the management boards of the ports and stations.

Authorised agencies are asked to build up a working mechanism and obey it to inspect the safety conditions of waterway vehicles.

Substandard and illegally operated ports and stations will be closed.
