On August 27, the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee held a regular session for August, to review socio-economic development in the first 8 months of the year and work out solutions for development for the rest of the year.

According to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, there was positive socio-economic development in most areas, with industrial production estimated at over VND2 trillion in August, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%; the fisheries output accounting for 68.8% of the whole year in the first 8 months.
Meanwhile, the number of tourists to the province increased, with tourism revenue rising by 15%.
The province gained over USD85 million in August exports, and its state budget contributions over the first 8 months are estimated at over VND20 trillion.
However, enterprises still met difficulties in production, especially coal enterprises.
During the session, provincial leaders agreed that departments and localities should carry out more specific measures, balance collection and spending to ensure the budget, speed up key constructions without neglecting quality, increase traffic safety, prepare for the celebration of the 50th year since the establishment of the province, and issue new plans in giving vocational training to rural labourers.
Nguyen Van Doc, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, asked departments and localities to master the direction from the ministries to tackle difficulties in border trade, temporary import and re-export, issue local bonds to assist large projects and constructions of the province, address debts in construction, and increase investment production with large investors, especially foreign investors.
He also requested departments and localities to prepare for a new school-year, reduce work and traffic accidents, ensure waterway traffic safety, prevent illegal trade and trade fraud, practice to implement the national defence rehearsal, and make plans for 2014./.
