Northern commune invests in new rural area infrastructure

Cai Chien Island commune, Hai Ha district of the northern province of Quang Ninh, is mobilising all resources to complete the infrastructure to boost socio-economic development, raise people’s spiritual and material lives, and promptly realise criteria on building new rural areas.

It has carried out the construction of a safe water pumping system since October 2012 with investment capital of VND6.4 billion. Nearly one year after the beginning of construction, it has been put into use, satisfying the water demand of 136 families on the island.
At present, the commune is building 2 kilometres of village roads and 5.1 kilometres of trans-island roads to facilitate travel for local residents and promote socio-economic development.
Three years into the implementation of the national program on building new rural areas, the commune has gained 10 of 19 criteria, including the criteria on poverty reduction and income, raising people’s living standards./.
