Northern province adopts socio-economic development plan until 2030

On September 24, the northern province of Quang Ninh adopted its general plan on socio-economic development until 2020, with a vision until 2030, during the 10th session of the provincial People’s Council, term XII.

According to delegates, the plan has been made with the contributions and consultancy from many ministries and central and provincial agencies, which helps to ensure its long term vision and good quality.

The plan closely follows the Party and State orientations on socio-economic development, and suits the province’s socio-economic development orientations and targets.

It also shows the determination of the province in realizing the country’s industrialization and modernization, in which it carries out strategic breakthroughs set in the 11th Party Congress resolution.

Delegates agreed with rapid and sustainable growth; specifically, GDP growth at 12.7% per year in the 2011-2020 period, and GDP per capita reaching USD8,100 per year by 2020.

Delegates also suggested that more solutions should be worked out for developing human resources, developing tourism, and dealing with unusual situations in the fisheries industry.

In addition, they also mentioned issues relating to climate change, forestation to prevent natural disasters, the suitable allocation of people, the building of the traffic system on islands, the building of shelter places for ships, the building of a high ranking tourism site on Co To Island, and the protection of the environment.

The province’s general plan on socio-economic development is expected to create a strong development in investment attraction, effectively exploit all potentials of the province, making it become a province of services and modern industries./.
