Northern province’s district conducts disaster prevention simulation

Hai Ha district, the northern province of Quang Ninh, has carried out a natural disaster response and rescue exercise in Phu Hai, Quang Thinh and Cai Chien communes.

The model was to respond to storms in the district, including the three communes. The communes practised applying the response plan, including carrying out preventive plans, rescue work and relocation of fish raisers who were at sea, evacuation of people on land, and encouragement of people to mitigate the consequences of storms.
During the exercise, the district board for natural disaster prevention and rescue work strictly followed the dispatches of the district and province on the prevention of natural disasters, mobilising forces, vehicles, facilities and order at site.
Analysing the situation, the communes proposed new measures to increase the coordination of agencies in mobilizing forces, vehicles and facilities in dealing with the storms.
During the simulation, forces were mobilised to rescue people who were swept away at sea, and to rescue capsized vessels.
The simulation helped to increase the direction of the Party Committees and the authorities, promote the general strength of agencies, armed forces and people in coping with natural disasters, in order to minimise losses in human lives and property in natural disasters./.
