Ha Long International Marathon 2013

(CPV) - On October 27, the Ha Long International Marathon 2013 will be held at Bai Chay Tourism Area, said the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The first such marathon and the biggest ever international sports event in the province is expected to attract around 1,500 domestic and international amateur and professional runners.

Athletes will compete in the 2 kilometer distance event, and 5 kilometer, 10 kilometers, 21.5 kilometers and 42.195 kilometers in both men’s and women’s advanced events.

In the men’s and women’s advanced event, as many as 500 professional and semi-professional racers have registered to compete, in which 80% are Japanese, the rest coming from Australia, US and North Africa.

Meanwhile, some 1,000 athletes will take part in the 2 kilometres event.

The sporting event is part of a series activities welcoming the 50^th anniversary of Quang Ninh province establishment (October 30, 1963 – October 30, 2013), and is hosted by the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism./.
