Vietnam film festival to be changed because of state funeral

According to the Department of Cinema, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 18th Vietnam film festival, which was scheduled to take place in Ha Long city from October 11-15, will instead be held from October 14-16.
The event will be changed because General Vo Nguyen Giap will be memorialised at a State funeral on October 12-13. In tribute to the General, the state funeral will be marked by the nationwide lowering of flags at all State offices and public places to half-mast and the cessation of all entertainment activities.
The opening ceremony will be held at 8pm on October 14 and the closing and awarding ceremony will be held at 8pm on October 16. These two ceremonies will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
During the festival, an exhibition titled “Cinema and Quang Ninh province”, a seminar on cooperation in film production and publication, and a seminar on cinema with Quang Ninh province and the popularization of tourism through cinema, will be held./.
