Seafood output of Quang Ninh hits over 67,000 tons

Total seafood volume over the past nine months reached more than 67,400 tons, 79.6 percent of the year’s plan and a 2.1 percent rise year-on-year, according to the Quang Ninh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Specifically, exploitation volume posted over 43,200 tons, 83.2 percent of the year’s plan, while aquaculture volume was over 24,000 tons, 73.3 percent of the year’s plan. These figures include 4,270 tons of white shrimp, 770 tons of sugpo prawn, 2,790 tons of fish, 8,600 tons of mollusc and 1,783 tons of other kinds of seafood.

Total breeding areas cover 20,100 hectares, including 16,730 hectares of salt and brackish water and 3,370 hectares of fresh water.

Inspecting and detecting diseases and quarantine activities were maintained regularly. Seafood diseases and epidemics reduced sharply compared to the same period last year, limited to a few cases on the shrimp breeding area in Yen Hung interior field, Quang Yen Commune./.
