Quang Ninh invests in agricultural mechanization

Over the past five years (2009-2013), the northern province of Quang Ninh invested nearly VND120 billion in mechanizing agricultural production, according to statistics by the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Of this, farmers and businesses invested about 91.7 percent in 14,523 machines and tools, mainly soil working machinery to serve agricultural production.

About 70,000 hectares of plantation area per year were served by the machines and tools with mechanization rate of 65-70 percent. Dong Trieu had the highest rate of 85 percent, while the lowest rate of 40 percent belonged to Dam Ha, Ha Long.

In addition, 22 combine harvesters operated on about 20 percent of the plantation area.

Farmers in the province also used 480 rice drum seeders on 30.23 percent of the rice plantation area, 50 pesticide spray machines and thousands of pumps to serve the plantation./.
