18th Vietnam film festival closes

On October 16th, the award ceremony and closing of the 18th Vietnam film festival took place in Quang Ninh province. Six golden lotus awards were presented at the ceremony.
The golden lotus awards were presented to “Legend Makers” and “Scandals – Red Carpet Secrets” (feature films); “Yellow Ox” (animated film), “Secrets of Ancient Statues” (scientific film), “An Opportunity was Missed” (documentary) and “The Partner” (video film).
The organizing board also presented sub-awards to honour the best directors, screenwriters, leading actors and actresses, supporting actors and actresses, and camera operators.
The 18th Vietnam film festival was held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee. The event received 139 submissions, including 23 feature films, 6 short films, 10 celluloid documentaries, 62 video documentaries, 12 scientific films and 26 animation films. The festival aimed to honour the outstanding cinematographic works and artists of the past two years and promote recently released films to Vietnamese audiences.
The closing ceremony also saw the passing of the chairmanship for the 19th Vietnam film festival in 2015 from Quang Ninh province to Ho Chi Minh City./.
