Blankets given to ethnic minority pupils

Some 715 winter blankets have been awarded to ethnic minority pupils across 4 mountainous districts in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

The activity was part of the program launched by the Government’s Ethnic Minority Committee, the Banking Times and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), which aimed to assist day-boarders.
The presents, worth over VND208 million, were contributed by the staff of Agribank to help encourage ethnic minority pupils to overcome difficulties in their lives.
The program has been carried out since June 2011. So far, over 8,500 ethnic minority pupils across Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Quang Ninh have received presents from the program.
The program aims to present over 12,000 blankets worth VND5 billion to students in boarding schools across 14 northern mountainous provinces./.
