It is forecast that in the final months of 2013, there is a high risk of a spread of dangerous diseases among animals. The reasons for this are the variations in viruses without appropriate vaccines, potential foot-and-mouth and blue ear viruses among poultry and cattle, the illegal import of poultry and cattle through border gate areas, an increase in the demand for poultry and cattle at year-end, and weather conditions promoting the spread of viruses.

The Quang Yen town People’s Committee asked relevant agencies to increase quarantine activities on poultry and cattle, the slaughtering of poultry and cattle, the prevention of illegal transport of poultry and cattle, vaccination among poultry and cattle, and environmental sanitation at areas of previous outbreaks.

According to statistics from localities, Quang Yen town has 53,100 pigs, 485,000 poultry, and 5,000 cows. Each year the breeding industry brings VND104-110 billion for breeders./.
