Earlier, the members were trained on how to make breeding grounds and care for the sows.
Accordingly, 25 poor families in Dien Xa commune were given one sow each. Under the model, after the sow gives birth to breeding pigs, the families will be responsible for handing over one pig to other poor families.
Dien Xa commune Farmer’ Association has 229 members, including 90 in poverty. Over the past years, thanks to assistance from the authorities, members’ living standards have been remarkably improved.
According to Nguyen Trong Chuyen, deputy head of the socio-economic committee of the provincial Farmers’ Association, the model of sow raising will help poor members and others escape poverty.
The assistance of sows comes from the national program on poverty reduction./.
