Quang Ninh province seeks ways to overcome storm consequences

On November 13, the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee convened to discuss ways to overcome the consequences of storm Haiyan.

According to the provincial People’s Committee, as of November 12, the storm claimed 4 lives, injured 7, and caused property losses of over VND200 billion.

During the meeting, Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, praised agencies and localities for active prevention and mitigation of the consequences of the storm, contributing to stabilising people’s lives and production.

Mr. Thanh asked the provincial steering committee on storm prevention and rescue work to have detailed list of victims of the storm to have prompt and adequate assistance.

Localities were asked to instruct people to repair houses and reinforce aquaculture cages and farms, recover sunken ships and boats, and ensure environmental sanitation.

He requested the department of transport to repair damaged roads to facilitate trade exchange and people’s travel.

During the meeting, Mr Nguyen Van Thanh called on the helping hand and sharing from organizations for communities with storm victims./.
