On November 13, the northern province of Quang Ninh decided to earmark VND30 billion, including VND20 billion from the provincial budget and VND10 billion from local budgets, to support families and agencies who were affected by typhoon Haiyan.

Accordingly, assistance of VND6 million will be given to the families of each of the dead and missing, VND20-25 million for each collapsed house, VND5 million for each unroof house, VND10 million for each damaged aquaculture cage, and VND10 million for each sunken ship.
To resume production, each destroyed fish cage will be assisted with VND20 million, each damaged hectare of crop with VND1.5 million, each dead poultry with VND10,000, each dead pig with VND750,000, and each dead cattle with VND4 million.
The province asked relevant agencies to distribute the assistance to help families promptly stabilise their lives and resume production, especially beneficiaries and poor families.
According to the provincial People’s Committee, as of November 12, the typhoon claimed 2 lives, left 2 missing, injured 7 others, destroyed 70 houses, damaged 2,300 others, flooded 1,000 houses, unroofed 16 schools, sank 715 ships and boats, and damaged over 1,500 hectares of crops.
The loss in property was estimated at over VND200 billion./.
