According to the provincial Customs Department, the illegal trade and transport of goods violating food safety has increased, especially during the lunar New Year festival. The goods are mainly inadequate quality chicken, poultry eggs, cats, seafood, spices, candies and fruits.
The illegal transport, trade and import of products with unclear origin is a risk for the spread of diseases, including avian flu, affecting the environment and the community’s health. Furthermore, it has left bad influence on the nation’s socio-economic development, restricts production and consumption domestically, and affects the collection of budget.
The provincial Customs Department forecasts that there could be an increase in smuggling and illegal transport of food during the 2014 lunar New Year. Therefore, it will focus on preventing the smuggling of goods such as cigarettes, alcohol, canned goods, candies, animals, poultry and seafood.
Accordingly, increased patrols will be set up in hot areas, in order to promptly detect smuggling and illegal transport of goods./.
