Northern district receives over VND1.2 billion in storm recovery assistance

Tien Yen district in the northern province of Quang Ninh has received VND1.25 billion from the provincial Fatherland Front to support families whose houses were destroyed due to typhoon Haiyan.

Earlier, the provincial Fatherland Front visited and granted VND160 million to support recovery efforts after the storm.

The typhoon caused serious damage in the district, with 41 houses totally collapsed, roofs blown off over 500 houses, nearly 1,000 houses flooded, thousands of hectares of crops destroyed, thousands of poultry killed and many public infrastructure works destroyed. Total losses are estimated at over VND30 billion.

At present, the authority and people in the district are carrying out diverse solutions to overcome the consequences of the typhoon./.
