16,440 coal industry workers provided accommodation

Over the past years, the northern province of Quang Ninh has worked with the Vietnam National Coal – Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) to put up 76 residential buildings to provide their workers with accommodation.

The 5-12 storey buildings have a total of 261,000 square metres of floor space, with 4,600 flats, providing accommodation for some 16,440 workers, roughly 11.3% of all workers and staff of the coal industry.

To support Quang Ninh province in becoming an industrialized and modern province, during his recent working meeting with the province, Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung said that the ministry would consider supporting investment for workers’ residences under social housing policies./.
