Smart urban area proposed for Van Don EZ

Deputy Chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh has presided over a meeting with the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) on proposing to build a smart urban area in the Van Don Economic Zone (EZ).

Accordingly, Van Don will be become an economic centre and a smart urban area which brings maximum residential quality of life with minimum amount of consumed resources by connecting infrastructure intelligently (energy, transport and carriage).

Building a smart urban area must satisfy six important fields: smart economy, smart transport, smart environment, smart residential, smart lifestyle and smart management.

Basing on these, AIT proposed the idea of building the project in Van Don for about 90,000 people and a hi-tech park which will create jobs for about 50,000 workers.

Mr. Thanh stressed that building a smart urban area is a broad trend in the world. For this, AIT’s proposal is expected to help Quang Ninh approach the concept about smart urban areas more quickly and clearly. Through AIT’s suggestions, he hoped that after surveying the reality, more ideas directly applicable to the Van Don EZ will be revealed./.
