Northern district helps hundreds of families escape poverty

The Dong Trieu district Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs in the northern province of Quang Ninh has announced that, so far this year, it has helped 325 families escape poverty sustainably, achieving 108% of the plan and reducing the poverty rate to 1.57%.

Since the beginning of the year, Dong Trieu district has applied poverty reduction plans and assigned specific tasks for communes and towns in poverty reduction. By classifying the groups of poor and nearly-poor families, sectors, agencies, unions and localities registered to help these families.
So far, the district fatherland front, unions, agencies and sectors registered to help 187 families and 21 communes and towns, with 300 families escaping poverty sustainably.
In addition, the district has listed 1,700 members of poor families for receiving medical insurance cards worth nearly VND1 billion, while carrying out diverse policies to support the poor, including giving loans for production, the reduction and exemption of land tax, the reduction and exemption of schooling fees for children of poor families, and giving electricity and housing support for the poor./.
