Northern district’s poverty rate remains 6.92% at year-end

By implementing synchronous measures to support people in escaping poverty, in 2013, Tien Yen district of the northern province of Quang Ninh has pulled 484 families out of poverty, reducing the poverty rate from 10.37% to 6.92%.

The results were brought about by active participation of individuals, enterprises and communities in different movements for the poor. At the same time, poverty reduction policies have provided infrastructure for villages, especially extremely disadvantaged villages; given preferential loans for poor families; supported agriculture, forestry and fisheries encouragement for the poor; and given vocational training to the poor.
In addition, Tien Yen district is conducting policies on rice seed price support, and giving 182 tons of powdered lime for farmers to push up agricultural production, and carrying out 12 concentrated development projects, including chicken, cow and goat raising, and building of large areas of fields./.
