On December 3, the Vietnamese Student Development
and Support Centre held a winter volunteer programme to encourage students in Dong Tam commune, BInh Lieu district, the northern province of Quang Ninh, to attend school.
The volunteer delegation visited and presented ten scholarships, worth VND1 million each, to encourage attendance among students from Dong Van boarding school; and ten scholarships to poor students from Dong Van primary school.
Addressing the programme, Le Quoc Phong, vice chairman of the Vietnamese Students’ Association, appreciated the students' efforts in their studies, and encouraged them to overcome all difficulties in their studies to contribute to building a more beautiful and civilized homeland.
More than 90% of people in Dong Van commune, the remote district of Binh Lieu, are ethnic minority people. /.
