Quang Ninh provincial leader calls for stronger efforts against smuggling

On January 21, Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee had a working meeting with the Mong Cai city steering committee on the prevention of smuggling, fake goods and trade fraud.

According to the city steering committee, since the beginning of the year, authorised agencies in the city seized and dealt with 46 cases of smuggling, fake and forbidden goods, and food safety violations, involving a total goods value of over VND2.6 billion.
In preventing forbidden and fake goods, the city steering committee inspected over 170 organizations, production foundations and business families, dealing with 9 cases of trading forbidden and fake goods.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Thanh asked authorised agencies in the city to further increase the fight against smuggling, fake goods and trade fraud; control well the trade at customs places; work out suitable solutions to both fight smuggling, fake goods and not restrict socio-economic development in border areas, ensuring the life for border residents and encouraging the development of the border market.
After the meeting, he inspected the border protection work at some border stations and wished border cadres and soldiers a happy New Year./.
