In 2014, the fund for children of the northern province of Quang Ninh has mobilised a large amount of money from different sources to care for the lives of children.

The fund received VND750 million in assistance from 50 agencies and enterprises, nearly VND1.5 billion from the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC), over VND700 million from the provincial budget and experienced a surplus of nearly VND250 million from 2013.
Thanks to the capital, the fund has supported 5,529 disadvantaged children by providing them with scholarships, milk, bicycles, clothes, books and heart surgeries. The support has helped the children continue their education and enjoy their basic rights.
Specifically, 10,000 boxes of milk worth over VND69 million have been provided for 110 children of the provincial centre for extremely disadvantaged children while the other 45,000 boxes of milk worth over VND300 million have been allocated to 495 pre-school and primary school pupils in Co To district.
In 2014, the fund has worked with the heart department of the Hanoi-based E hospital to give free heart check-ups to 450 children who suffered inborn heart diseases, discovering that 13 needed treatment, all of which were provided free of charge surgeries.
In addition, the fund has paid surgery fees and treatment worth VND400 million for 23 children who have exercise difficulties.
Moreover, the NFVC and the Operation Smile Vietnam (OSV) have funded harelip surgeries for 21 disadvantaged children in the province.
To assist disadvantaged children overcoming educational difficulties, this year, the provincial fund for children has encouraged the NFVC and sponsors to grant 120 scholarships worth VND3 million each to those who gain excellent academic results. Moreover, some 85 bicycles have also been distributed to disadvantaged pupils whose houses are far from their schools./.
