Chairman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Doc has directed related departments, sectors and localities to strictly carry out the guidance of the government on moving all the bears kept in local farms to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre at the Tam Dao National Park in Vinh Phuc province before April 20th.
Accordingly, before April 20th, the office of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee has to organize a meeting with presence of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Forest Protection Department, the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre, related departments and localities and owners of bears in the province to unify plans to support and transport all 38 bears to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre.
Quang Ninh province has 38 bears in captivity. Many bears are being weak due to their old age and owners haven’t had money to feed the bears after the provincial government banned private bear farms from extracting bear bile to sell to tourists in May 2014./.
