Northern district recognised for meeting standard of program on building new style rural areas

The Prime Minister has decided to recognise Dong Trieu district in the northern province of Quang Ninh for achieving the standard of the program on building new style rural areas.

Four years after the program’s implementation, as of late 2014, the district had accomplished 352 of 361 criteria, including 11 communes gaining certificates of appraisal from the Prime Minister and one being granted social welfare construction worth VND1 billion.
The program has helped to increase people’s spiritual and material lives with well invested agricultural and rural socio-economic infrastructure. Accordingly, rural residents’ income was increased from VND14.5 million per year in 2010 to VND27.9 million in 2014.
The poverty rate among 19 communes in the district remained at only 0.87% in 2014. So far 100% of trans-communal and trans-village roads have been surfaced while remarkable improvements in the cultural and social lives in rural areas have been reported, alongside improvements in the environment../.
