More than 100 cataract patients receive surgery with Phaco method

The Quang Ninh provincial Disease Control Centre, Japan-based Asia-Pacific Prevention of Blindness Association (APBA - Japan) and Tien Yen district Health Department organized cataract surgeries with Phaco method for patients in Tien Yen, Dam Ha, Binh Lieu and Ba Che districts on June 8th - 10th.

Over three days, Dr. Hattori Tadashi and his colleagues conducted cataract surgeries for over 100 patients, who were provided artificial lens, mucus, eyelid paste and surgery thread free of charge by APBA.
Mr. Vu Xuan Dien, Director of the Quang Ninh Department of Health, thanked APBA, especially Dr. Hattori Tadashi, for helping the Quang Ninh health sector to liberate the population from blindness over the past time. He also wished to continue receiving the assistance from APBA in the coming years, so that many people in Quang Ninh have opportunity to find the light.
Previously, the Quang Ninh provincial Disease Control Centre cooperated with health units in four districts to examine nearly 1,300 people. Of these, 160 were advised to undergo cataract surgery./.
