Green sea turtle released

A fisherman and the related authorities of Hai Ha district, Quang Ninh province, released a green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) into the natural environment on September 16th.

On the evening of September 15th, when catching fish on Cua Dai territorial waters, near Cai Chien island commune of Hai Ha district, Nguyen Van Thoai, a fisherman, born in 1969 and living in Quang Minh commune, Hai Ha district, discovered a green sea turtle caught in his net.
He brought this turtle home and informed the Hai Ha district Forest Management Department.
Through examination, it was recognized that this turtle belongs to an endangered species which is prioritized for protection. The turtle is brown, about 60cm in length and 44cm in width and more than 17kg in weight.
Immediately thereafter, the authority and the fisherman released the turtle into the sea in the area of Ghenh Vo port in Quang Phong commune, Hai Ha district./
