British Council launches GREAT Scholarship 2022

Four universities have partnered with the British Council and the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign to offer four scholarships for Vietnamese candidates as part of the program.

These universities are University College London, University of Hull, University of Greenwich, and University of Westminster.

The GREAT Scholarships aim to widen access to UK education in Vietnam and celebrates the diverse range of institutions in the UK that offer a vast number of courses for students to choose from.

With thousands Vietnamese students choosing to study in the UK each year, the GREAT Scholarships aim to build on the strong links between the UK and Vietnam and continue to welcome all Vietnamese students to the UK.

Each scholarship is worth a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course in the UK for the 2022-23 academic year. Students intending to apply for the scholarships must have received an offer of entry from one of the participating universities and must satisfy all entry requirements for the chosen course as stated by the respective university.

As one of the first Vietnamese candidates to receive the GREAT scholarship in 2021, Nguyen Minh Thuy is currently studying MSc Climate Change and International Development at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Sharing her experience in the UK, she said: ‘Studying in the UK gives me the golden opportunity to become a global citizen, to meet like-mind young people and share a passion for protecting our environment and sustainable development. The GREAT scholarship helped make my dream to study in the UK come true. The scholarship is extremely valuable in terms of finance and networking opportunities. The studying experience in UEA has helped me believe in what I am passionate about and develop my career in this field./.’
