Seminar highlights respect intellectual property rights and gender equality

A seminar highlighting respect for intellectual property rights and gender equality during scientific research among students has been organized in both face-to-face and online forms to respond to the World Creativity and Innovation Day (April 21), the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) and the World Intellectual Property Day.

VNA quoted the saying of Dr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam that he highlighted the important role of IP rights in socio-economic development in general and science-technology development in particular, particular when Vietnam is striving towards a knowledge-based economy.

Lawyer Le Xuan Loc, director in charge of intellectual property at T&G Law Firm, said that if students fail to understand and respect IP rights, they would not be able to be come innovators or talented entrepreneurs.

According to Dr. Duong Kim Anh, vice director of the Vietnam Women Academy, young people need to pay attention to promoting reading culture of individuals, families, schools and communities.

She also emphasised the necessity to develop reading culture, enhance investment in libraries, and include reading lessons and discussions on books into the education programme at all levels./.
