Binh Dinh and New Zealand continue to promote cooperation results

On June 6, the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee held a reception for Ms. Tredene Dobson, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, under the chair of Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh highly appreciated the cooperation between the province and New Zealand for many years in the fields of agriculture, health, trade, education and training. Prominent is the success of the Binh Dinh Sustainable Rural Livelihoods Project which connects farmers to the market; the Binh Dinh Safe Vegetables Project which creates sustainable rural livelihoods, bringing health benefits and environment, a premise for the province to continue to expand production of safe vegetables in particular and clean agricultural products in general.

The province is also supported by the New Zealand Government to well implement the Project on Improving the Quality and Utilization of Maternal and Child Health Care Services. In addition, the New Zealand - Vietnam Health Trust has sponsored medical equipment, professional and technical training for Provincial General Hospital and Bong Son Regional General Hospital.

The Vice Chairman shared about the potential, strengths and efforts to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic for socio-economic development of the province. He expressed his hope that Ambassador Tredene Dobson will be interested in acting as a bridge so that New Zealand can continue to support the province in areas where New Zealand has strengths and the province has needs, such as agriculture and rural development, education, tourism and healthcare, while supporting to connect and introduce New Zealand businesses to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in the province.

Ms. Tredene Dobson shared, after more than a year as New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Binh Dinh is now the second locality in the country that she has visited after Ho Chi Minh City. She expressed her impression of the traffic infrastructure, new constructions, beautiful scenery of Binh Dinh in general and the coastal city of Quy Nhon in particular, which have similar features to a port city in New Zealand.

Ambassador Tredene Dobson thanked the provincial authorities for their attention , and departments and sectors for their support and good coordination to successfully implement projects on agriculture and rural development. She will connect and propose to New Zealand to continue to have projects, programs and support activities as desired by the province. In the near future, Binh Dinh province will be invited to participate in the dike safety project in the field of disaster risk management, which has been supported and implemented effectively in Vietnam by New Zealand.

Recognizing that Binh Dinh province's tourism has a lot of potential and will thrive, she said she will return for a summer vacation and contribute to the promotion with the desire that more and more New Zealanders know and come to Quy Nhon./.
