As planned, the Van Don International Airport will be put into operation in December 2018, serving 9 routes and with a capacity of handling 7,000 passengers per day.
The terminal covers approximately 27,000 square meters, and is capable of serving 2.5 million passengers annually and up to 1,250 passengers per hour during peak hours in the first phase until 2020. The aircraft holding area is designed to accommodate seven aircraft in the first phase and 15 aircraft in the second phase until 2030.
After three years of construction, Van Don has basically completed investment items. The project has a total investment of more than VND7.4 trillion and was approved by the Ministry of Transport to be an airport that meets the 4E criteria set by the International Civil Aviation Organization, and a second-class military airport.
It is expected to create thousands of jobs and provide a stable income for many local laborers, contributing to improving quality of life among Van Don island district’s residents./.
