In his speech at the event, Mr. Cao Anh Son, Director of the Vietnam Airlines’ office in France and Europe, said the joint venture between the two largest air carriers of Vietnam and France is developing well and the number of passengers using services of joint flights reached about 355,000 at an average 85% of capacity in 2018.
Sebastien Guillot, head of Air France’s marketing in France, said the joint venture contributes to affirming the position of the two airlines in the Vietnamese market which has great potential but also strong competitiveness.
Officially launched in November 2017, the joint venture has enhanced services and connections thanks to suitable schedules of flights departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh city.
The flights operated in this joint venture continue to benefit from services of Skyteam alliance such as Skypriority, worldwide business lounge, incentive programs for Flying Blue loyal customers (Air France ) and LotuSmiles (Vietnam Airlines).
After joining the SkyTeam airline alliance in 2010, Vietnam Airlines began to codeshare with Air France in flights between Paris and Vietnam’s hubs Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. Earlier, the two carriers worked together for more than 20 years in the field of aircraft maintenance and human resources training.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines is operating 10 direct flights a week from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city to Charles de Gaulle Airport by Airbus A350, while Air France uses Boeing 777 to fly between Paris and Ho Chi Minh city with three flights a week.
France is one of the biggest and most important markets of the national flag carrier./.
