From the start of the year, Ly Son island district in the central province of Quang Ngai greeted more than 140,000 domestic and foreign tourists, according to the district People’s Committee.

Over the past years, the growth in the number of tourists to Ly Son is due to the island organizing many cultural, art and entertainment programs like sea and island culture week and an international paragliding championship, together with traditional festivals such as boat racing and a ceremony honoring Hoang Sa soldiers.
In 2016, the island welcomed 165,000 tourists, a 37.5-fold increase compared to 2010 and a 20-fold rise compared to 2013. The number of tourists increased to 200,000 in 2017 and 230,000 in 2018. Ly Son strives to receive about 30,000 tourists in 2019, up 70,000 from the previous year.
The local authority defined tourism as a spear-head sector in economic development in order to promote the advantages of landscapes such as Hang Pagoda, Duc Pagoda, Cau Cave, Small Island and To Vo Gate.
Currently, Ly Son has more than 124 accommodation facilities, including 8 hotels, 56 motels, and 600 homestays with over 750 rooms. Its continues to call on investment in tourism to improve the quality of accommodation and catering services; and protect and embellish historic sites and landscapes./.
