Domestic carriers add more than 650,000 seats serving Tet holiday

The added flights will bring the total number of seats on the group’s domestic flight network to more than 2.15 million seats, equivalent to more than 11,000 flights.

It also plans to lease four more Airbus A320/A321 aircraft to serve the peak Tet holiday. Each aircraft is expected to operate 180 flights during the period.

The added flights focus on routes between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Vinh; and between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Hai Phong, Hue, Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Pleiku, Chu Lai, Dong Hoi and Vinh.

According to the airlines, many flights for the Lunar New Year holiday now have  seat occupancy rate of up to 70-80%, mainly on flights from Ho Chi Minh City to northern and central provinces and cities such as Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Chu Lai and Dong Hoi. The number of passengers is forecast to continue to increase sharply in the coming month.

Earlier, since September 2024, Vietnam Airlines Group has opened for sale nearly 1.5 million seats on its domestic flight network for the Lunar New Year to serve passengers’ early ticket purchase needs.

The airline also launched a program of flat-rate tickets starting from only 666,000 VND one way for Economy Class and 1,868 million VND one way for Business Class (prices include taxes and fees)./.
