Flag raising and inauguration of national flagpole on Lao Cai border

The Muong Khuong district People’s Committee in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on November 10 organized a ceremony to raise the flag and inaugurate the national flagpole on the top of Co Tien Mountain.

The event is among activities to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of Muong Khuong district (November 11, 1950).

The national flagpole is built on the top of Co Tien mountain, in Sang Chai village, Muong Khuong town, in the Vietnam-China border area. It is 18m high and is designed of stainless steel with a lightning protection system. It is invested by capital from the local budget.

The national flagpole project on Co Tien Mountain has an important meaning in affirming Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty, arousing and promoting national pride and love for the homeland and country of the people of all ethnic groups.

According to Secretary of the Muong Khuong Party Committee, Giang Quoc Hung, the national flagpole harmoniously combines the available natural beauty and the human hand. It is one of the hot spots attracting foreign and domestic tourists, contributing to the development of the local tourism economy./.
