A representative of the Kien Giang Tourism Association said that on the occasion of the National Day holiday, from August 31 to September 3, international tourists to Phu Quoc island are forecast to double that of the same period last year, of which majority is mainly from Taiwan (China), the Republic of Korea and Russia.
Tourism businesses in Phu Quoc are now implementing many attractive stimulus programs to attract more tourists during the holiday. Many hotels and resorts on the island are applying discount programs and special service packages, supporting international tourists to check in quickly, increasing promotions and eliminating surcharges.
In addition, the tourism industry and businesses have also launched many new attractive tourism services in Phu Quoc, including exploring the pearl island by double-decker bus and experiencing basket boats on the sea and water sports.
Aiming to well prepare for the holiday, the Kien Giang Department of Tourism has requested tourism service businesses, cultural and information departments of districts and city to strengthen the management of tourism, entertainment and commercial activities. In particular, management units are required to rectify and strictly handle violations of laws on tourism, food safety and hygiene, security and safety for tourists and the quality of services.
According to the Department of Tourism, in August, Kien Giang greets an estimated 1 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of nearly 19%, in which foreign tourists number over 92,000, a year-on-year rise of 175%.
In the first eight months this year, the province welcomes more than 7.6 million tourists, 83.3% of the year’s plan; in which foreign tourists are estimated at over 665,000, about 98% of the year’s plan. Total tourism turnover is estimated to reach more than 18 trillion VND, over 90% of the year’s plan./.
