HCM City: Tourism revenue reaches over 140 trillion VND in nine months

Tourism activities in Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City recorded an explosion in the first nine months of 2024, reflected in the growth in the number of tourists over the months.

In particular, total tourism revenue in the first nine months reached over 140 trillion VND, a year-on-year increase of 11.9%, reaching 73.9% of the year’s plan.

The HCM City Department of Tourism has just reported on the tourism situation in the nine months, and key directions and tasks for the last three months of 2024.

Accordingly, international visitors to the southern city over the past nine months were estimated at 4.014 million, a year-on-year rise of 12.4%, reaching 66.9% of the year’s plan, while domestic tourists reached 27.353 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%, reaching 72% of the year’s plan.

According to the City Department of Tourism, in the first nine months of 2024, the city focused on developing typical tourism products while actively promoting cultural and historical tourism products, waterway tourism, medical tourism, MICE tourism and improving the quality of culinary services; contributing to increasing the attractiveness of the city’s destinations.

In addition, tourism information and promotion activities were strengthened to more efficiently raise the image of the city’s tourism to tourists with the emphasis on promoting the application of information technology to bring tourism activities to online platforms.

Along with that, the organization of tourism events connected with culture in the city also created highlights with main events such as: HCM City Ao Dai Festival, HCM City Tourism Festival, HCM City River Festival, and HCM City International Travel Expo. The events attracted the attention of domestic and foreign visitors while stimulating domestic tourism, contributing to promoting the development of Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry.

The city strives to welcome about six million international visitors and provide services to 38 million domestic visitors in 2024, earning a total tourism revenue of 190 trillion VND./.
