The Huong Pagoda has a mountain system, a three-layered Huong Son forest, and a pure Yen stream. The complex was built under the reign of King Le Thanh Tong (1442 – 1497). After many renovations and repairs, it still retains its historical and scenic value and has contributed to the unique and diverse cultural features of Vietnamese Buddhism.

The annual Huong Pagoda Festival, which opens from the sixth day of lunar January to the last day of lunar March, is the “longest festival in the country”. Every year, more than 1 million people visit Huong Pagoda.

Visitors to Huong Pagoda not only worship Buddha but enjoy the majestic and poetic landscape with mountains, caves and pagodas.

In 1925, the French Governor-General of Indochina issued a decision to classify Huong Pagoda as a national relic. In 1962, the Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) also issued a decision to classify Huong Pagoda as a national relic. On December 25, 2017, the Prime Minister classified it as a special national relic in Decision 2082/QD-TTg.

Meanwhile, Hong Van is a suburban commune along the Red River dike in Thuong Tin District. For many years, Hong Van has been striving to promote its strengths to become an attractive tourist destination, bringing great economic benefits to the locality.

In 2018, the ornamental plant craft village of Hong Van commune was recognized by the City People’s Committee as a tourist destination. At the end of 2019, the commune was recognized by the City People’s Committee as meeting advanced new-style rural standards. With increasingly improved service quality and many quality tourism products, Hong Van commune was recognized as a city-level tourist area./.
