Data from the Agoda platform shows that Vietnam tourism is having many positive changes as the number of searches for destinations from international visitors has increased sharply over the past three months.
In July, the number of searches to Vietnam increased by only 4% compared to the same period last year while August data began to record strong growth of 31% in the number of travellers.
Notably, September witnessed an explosion in searches with an increase of 84% compared to the same period last year, as international visitors are actively looking for destinations for the 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays.
Agoda’s data on the increasing trend of accommodation searches is similar to the data released by the General Statistics Office. Accordingly, the number of tourists to Vietnam in the first nine months of 2024 is 43% higher than the same period in 2023. With 12.7 million international visitors, this number has surpassed the total number of visitors for the whole year of 2023.
In particular, the interest of tourists in key areas in the North of Vietnam is still very positive after the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi on September 7.
Accordingly, Agoda’s data also shows that the number of check-ins from August to October 2024 at famous destinations in Vietnam such as Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Giang, Ha Long Bay, Hai Phong and Cat Ba all increased sharply compared to the same period in 2023, reflecting stable interest in these locations./.
