The Republic of Korea continued to send the largest number of tourists to Vietnam in the nine months with 3.3 million, accounting for 26.5%. China ranked second with 2.7 million visitors, accounting for 21.3%. These two markets alone contributed 47.8% of all international visitors over the past nine months. The markets following them are Taiwan (China), the US, Japan and Malaysia.
Markets in Europe all grew vigorously, including major markets such as the UK (19.9%), France (28.1%) and Germany (23.3%).
In South Asia, the potential market of India grew dramatically with a recovery rate of 305% compared to 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most markets in the region all saw good recovery such as Cambodia 300%, Indonesia 171%, Laos 155%, the Philippines 134% and Singapore 112%.
Recently, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism successfully implemented a series of programs to promote Vietnamese tourism to foreign markets such as Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the RoK.
Notably, the film tourism promotion program was held in the US for the first time, creating a big buzz. With the momentum from the open visa policy, the number of international visitors to Vietnam is expected to grow dramatically in the remaining months of the year, and the tourism industry should complete the goal of welcoming 17-18 million international visitors this year./.
