Along with improving service quality and putting large aircraft into operation, in4 months of resumed operation, Dien Bien Airport has welcomed more than 900 departure/arrival flights, meeting travel demand of local people and tourists.

After being upgraded and expanded, Dien Bien Airport can accommodate large modern aircraft Airbus A320 and A321. With seven flights a week from Hanoi and three flights a week from Ho Chi Minh City to Dien Bien, the number of passengers the airport handles has increased and stabilized.
“The output through Dien Bien Airport from December 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 reached 906 flights with a total of 69,900 passengers, including 34,911 departure passengers and 34,989 arrival passengers, said a representative of the leaders of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
Dien Bien Airport is a key project of great significance in national defense and security, creating a breakthrough in infrastructure, contributing to attracting investment and promoting economic development of the whole region.
During the Visit Vietnam Year – Dien Bien 2024 associated with the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, the northern mountainous province is to welcome numerous tourists. Dien Bien Airport has been upgraded and expanded to be more convenient; along with promoting advertisement of tourism and services; the locality’s target of welcoming 2 million tourists by 2025 is completely achievable.
Many passengers from Lai Chau and Son La provinces also travel to Dien Bien Phu to fly to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, creating a much busier atmosphere than before.
Dien Bien Airport installed new, modern equipment after being upgraded and expanded, such as biometric system, using electronic citizen identification for air passengers; ground service equipment and terminal equipment. The smooth coordination between Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Dien Bien Airport has contributed to stability and is appreciated by passengers since the airport resumed operations.
Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have just announced the summer flight schedule to and from Dien Bien with 42 flights a week./.
