Thousands of people throughout the country visited and offered incense at the grave of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua - Yen Island in the central province of Quang Binh on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 2024).

Among the thousands of people neatly lined up to visit the General’s grave were many delegations of war veterans, former youth volunteers and soldiers who joined the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. The delegations came to the late General Vo Nguyen Giap’s final resting place to pay tribute to his great contribution to the national liberation cause.
Bouquets of fresh flowers and incense were offered to the grave by a large number of people as gratitude to General Vo Nguyen Giap on this meaningful May 7.
Expressing respect and deep gratitude to General Vo Nguyen Giap, a talented and strategic general, an outstanding son of his homeland Quang Binh, and the commander who made an important contribution to the “Dien Bien Phu victory which resounded over all the continents, shaking the globe”, Mr. Tran Dinh Hoa, Head of the Veterans Liaison Committee of Tri Thien B4-B5, Military Region 4 in Quang Binh, shared: “We are here today to pay tribute to the world-famous General, vow to study following the General, and strive and make more efforts in life to be worthy of the people’s General.”
Also on these days, at the memorial house of General Vo Nguyen Giap in An Xa village, Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, many groups of guests and local people also come to offer incense and admire the simple, rustic house, associated with the General’s childhood in his hometown of Quang Binh.
Although the number of visitors increased, the guidance work was carried out well, creating a solemn and sacred atmosphere on the anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory./.
