In mid-November 2024, Tra Que Vegetable Village was honored by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as “The best tourist village in 2024."
According to the Hoi An People’s Committee, the implementation of "Building a green tour route at Tra Que Vegetable Village, Cam Ha commune” is necessary to implement the above orientation while providing guidance and lessons for replicating and promoting the practice of green tourism models to other tourist attractions in Hoi An city.
The city aims to have 100% of homestay and villa businesses recognized as meeting green tourism standards according to the Quang Nam Green Tourism Criteria, and 50% of restaurant businesses and cooking classes practice green tourism.
Formed in the 16th century and located 3km northeast of Hoi An Ancient Town, Tra Que Vegetable Village has the unique characteristics of a river island near the sea, surrounded by Co Co River and Tra Que Lagoon, providing a temperate climate and fertile soil, creating favorable conditions for local people to create and develop traditional organic vegetable growing.
Currently, Tra Que village has 202 households growing vegetables with 326 direct workers on an area of 18 hectares of cultivated land, bringing a stable source of income.
In April 2022, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized Tra Que's vegetable farming as national intangible cultural heritage.
Each day, thousands of visitors come to the village, eager to explore its scenic beauty and participate in hands-on farming activities.
Over the past five years, Quang Nam has been striving to have the provincial tourism industry meet local and international green tourism standards. By the end of 2024, the central coastal province had granted green tourism certificates to 32 units and enterprises./.
