Son La greets some three million visitors in first months of 2024

The northwestern mountainous province of Son La welcomed and served nearly three million tourists in the first half of 2024, reaching nearly 62% of the year’s plan; worth about 3.56 trillion VND, approximately 65% ​​of the year’s plan.

This result is thanks to the fact that in the first months of the year, Son La organized many cultural and artistic events to celebrate major holidays and important political events. These include an art program to welcome celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory; 65 years since Uncle Ho and the Central Working Group visited and talked with people in the Northwest in Son La (May 7); and an art program to promote tourism and announce the Decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognizing Moc Chau as a National Tourist Area.

Along with that, districts and cities in Son La also organized many cultural, sports and tourism events, contributing to promoting and introducing unique cultural and tourist features of localities to domestic and foreign tourists, such as peach blossom festival in Van Ho district; Medlar flower festival in Muong La; Culture, Sports and Tourism Week in Quynh Nhai district; and New rice celebration in Quang Huy, Phu Yen.

The mountainous province has so far had 626 tourist accommodation establishments, including eight hotels of 3 stars or higher and the rest being tourist motels, homestays and other types of tourist accommodation.

Realizing the benefits of investing in tourism development, many households in Son La have invested in homestays to welcome tourists, both to increase income and to promote and introduce the nation’s unique cultural features to tourists./.
