Than Nong Tower in Bac Ninh recognized as World Record

The Than Nong Tower, a symbol of the god of the rice civilization, is made up of 1,012 stone mortars arranged in an outer ring, with a solid concrete frame inside.

On October 13, the World Record Alliance coordinated with the Central Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Record Organization (Vietkings), to award the World Record Certificate for the Than Nong Tower made of stone mortars shaped into the world’s largest rice grain.
The Than Nong Tower is located at the Dong Do Vocational Training and Driving Test Center, Lam Thao Commune, Luong Tai District, Bac Ninh Province.
It is 15m high, divided into five floors. On top of the tower is a model of the Emperor Shennong constellation with 15 stars made of LED lights that glow in different colors at night.
This is a unique destination that attracts visitors to Bac Ninh, both creating a landscape and serving as an experiential cultural education model.
This is the first exhibition area of stone mortars and wet rice culture in Bac Ninh, aiming at developing sustainable experience services and tourism, contributing to promoting local socio-economy; at the same time preserving, conserving and promoting the quintessence of Kinh Bac culture and wet rice culture./.
